Whats wrong with “Red Flag” laws?

Talking with 2nd Amendment and gun rights advocate Matt Funicello about REAL gun facts.
Gun related deaths each year average 30-40k. 325 million people in U.S. (as of 2016). That is .0092% of our population.
17% of them are criminal related, approx 8k.
The rest are suicides, law enforcement, or accidental discharge. Suicides don’t count as “gun violence”. They are self inflicted and mental health issues. But they are not violence against another person.
Background checks need to include juvenile records. Right now the legal system is preventing complete and accurate background checks.
What about adding biometric controls on guns? NO.
The 5th Amendment guarantees that you can’t have anything taken from you without due process. President Trump has said, take the guns first, then due process. That’s a problem.
Red Flag laws WILL be abused. Once they go into affect, your employer, coworkers, friends, family, etc, can get a gun violence restraining order (which is a red flag law) against you. Once a law enforcement agency takes your guns, you have to prove that you’re ok to have them. That could take months or years of legal action that YOU have to pay for out of pocket.
None of these proposed laws, taxes, or changes to try to curb gun violence will work. Evil will find a way, with or without guns.
