AND…
Todd M. Smith Senior Pastor at Crossroads Community Church in Los Angeles county joins Joe to discuss
Christian depression is not an oxymoron. And too many of the people are embarrassed about being depressed and they feel shamed into silence.
Based on Psalm 23, we sometimes walk thru dark valleys. The good news is, we come out of it by following Jesus. Jesus never promised to fix us this side of Heaven, but He did promise to be with us. There’s no easy way out, but there is a way thru.
Over 100 Americans commit suicide every day.
You can’t fix depression for someone. But you can be there for them and listen to them. We’ve lost the theology of “WITHness”. Sometimes people just need us to be WITH them, not necessarily fix something FOR them.
God doesn’t promise happiness. He promises JOY! The root word of happy goes back to happenstance. But God actually leads you down a path of joy. Happiness is a random accident that is fleeting. Joy is a choice. Until you put Jesus front and center in your life, you will continue to chase something else to fill that void.

Many men and women before you have found themselves in the same position. This life is filled with dark valleys, and most of us are just looking for an immediate way out of the valley we’re in. You may have been told the fix to the darkness of depression and sadness is either more prayer or more pills, more church or more counseling, more truth or more therapy.
