SCOTUS slaps down California anti-free-speech mandate affecting pro-life pregnancy centers
Jun 28, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 7:55 pm PDT
SCOTUS slaps down law that only required crisis pregnancy centers (NOT PP’s) to instruct clients where they could get abortions.
Angela Bennett, President and CEO of a SoCal crisis pregnancy center, says the centers are now licensed medical clinics with a narrow scope to provide women with scientific, medical facts about their pregnancy and the options after that.
If we, culturally, had a different perspective on the value of life, more women might come to the choice to preserve life and choose adoption.
There are 2 different types of pro-life pregnancy centers. One is a non-medical resource. The other provides medical services relating to pregnancy.
California AB775 mandated what pregnancy centers HAD to tell clients. Lawsuit challenged the mandated speech as a violation of their 1st Amendment rights.
The bill mandated posters in the entry in 48pt font with the phone number referring clients to a free abortion. So the State of California required a pro-life business to advertise free abortions for the government and Planned Parenthood.
