9/11 Museum Islamist Controversy – Words Matter

After much anticipation, the 9/11 Memorial Museum is finally opening. There’s been much hubbub about what should or should not be included in the museum, right down to the verbiage in an educational video making reference to “Islamists.”

I never gave it much thought and attributed the opposition to overly sensitive people. After all, the attackers were Muslim and by virture, Islamic. Then I read this article. It helped me put myself in the shoes of Muslims who were just as horrified by the attacks, some of whom lost friends and loved ones in the attacks.

Being a Christian, I have heard broad statements claiming “all Christians are ________” (you can fill in the blank, I’m sure you’ve heard them too… intolerant, judgmental, ignorant, misogynists. Pick one or add your own!) And I’ve been lumped into those categories by people who don’t know me, but simply assume that since I’m Christian, that’s what I must be.

Most of the people passing judgement haven’t studied the Bible in depth, but are going off of summaries, assumptions, or simply things they’ve heard about the religion. Are we doing the same thing with Muslims?

There are definitely radical elements who claim to be Christians and churches who take some things to an extreme. I don’t want them to define my Christianity to the world. What if that’s what we’re seeing in the Muslim religion?

Words have meaning and the way we string them together in a sentence makes a big difference. If you think words don’t matter, go sit in a courtroom for a day. Every word, dot, and tittle on a contract makes a difference. Sometimes ALL the difference.

There may not be a way to appease everyone concerned about this 9/11 Museum video. The fact is, the people who perpetrated and executed the attacks on 9/11 claimed to be Muslim and believed they were doing the attacks in the name of Islam. Whether or not they really were acting on their holy scriptures is way above my pay grade.

But it’s no different than learning about Christian Crusades. It’s a part of history that doesn’t seem to fit in with what my Bible teaches. Yet Christians did unspeakable things in the name of Christ to further Christianity. It’s a dark period in Christian history. But it happened. We just need to make sure it is relayed accurately.

I still haven’t heard the actual audio from the 9/11 Museum documentary, so I can’t make an informed opinion at this time as to whether or not something should be changed. But when I do, I’ll be looking at it from a little different perspective considering the points made in Dr. Faheem Younus’ article. Let me know what you think and whether or not you’ve heard the documentary firsthand.

Airman Blasts Obama for Failure to Lead

Senior Airman Retired Brian Kolfage, USAF, recently penned a to President Obama. It wasn’t a love letter, or even an appreciation or atta-boy letter. Quite the opposite. To say he’s perturbed by the unfinished pullout in the Middle East would be a severe understatement. This Airman sacrificed a lot. He’s a triple amputee. This war is personal, very personal, for him. Here’s a little excerpt:

I’m not placing blame on you for the war, I’m placing blame on you for destroying what we’ve worked so hard to build. You’re not a leader, you’re a community organizer. A leader would have stood up regardless of the situation and put America’s agenda first and that is ensuring a secure Iraq even after 10 years of war. But, you placed Barack first, just as Robert Gates confirmed in his new book. I can’thelp but think of those poor kids who I gave water and toys to 11 years ago. They’re probably 15 or 16 years old now, and I can only imagine what it’s like for them to have their nation being torn apart yet again; all because of your poor leadership qualities. Regardless of why we went to Iraq, its water under the bridge. We went there, we waged war, and we not only owed it to our KIA’s but we owed it to the citizens of Iraq. We invaded their country and turned it upside down, and you bailed on them. You bailed on our soldiers and you’ve wasted every death and every limb, it’s all for nothing. And to make matters worse you blame others for your failures.

You’re just another elitist rich thug who’s pretended to live the rough life growing up in the inner-city. You’re only worried about your own agenda and furthering your party instead of taking care of Americans. Your inability to be a leader at some of the most critical points has caused both of our wars to fail. You’ve been a joke to most of our veteran community and we have no faith in your ability to lead.

A big thank you to Joe “the plumber” Wurzelbacher for posting the letter in its entirety. You can read it here.

Muslim Condemns Boko Haram

Dr Faheem Younus
Dr Faheem Younus

Boko Haram abducted over 300 girls in the name of Islam. As a devout Muslim, Dr. Faheem Younus takes this personally. He says this action should be condemned by every Muslim leader and practical steps should be taken to bring such thugs to justice.

The Continued Demise of Print Media

The New York Times, like other dinosaurs of the Print Media Age, is struggling to find its footing in today’s Digital Age.

An internal NYT’s report details the harsh reality happening in newsrooms across the nation. Many are hampered by their own history of continuing the habit of working on a print deadline, catering to Page One stories, and a lack of urgency.

True, the ways of the Digital Age are different from the Print Age, however, I can’t help but wonder if the NYT’s and others are missing the proverbial elephant in the reading room. Specifically, it isn’t simply the methods of media that have changed–it’s the readers as well. For many, many years the media has been controlled BY liberals and produced FOR liberal readers. Times they are a’changing though, and so are the readers.

Today’s readers are looking for more sources of information free of liberal bias. They’re more discerning and jaded from years of being lied to by the liberal media. The rise of digital media outlets–especially conservative ones like The Real Side, The Blaze, and the EIB network–are pushing out the old liberal media sources. The true cause of print media’s demise may indeed be their own liberal bias.

The conservative “elephants in the reading room” are voting with their subscriptions, likes, and shares in Digital Media Age.

Disapproval of Homosexual Kiss Gets Don Jones Mandatory Sensitivity Training

Gay Flag, LGBT
Gay Flag, LGBT

There was no sensitivity training imposed upon those openly criticizing Tim Tebow for his public displays of Christianity, but, as Don Jones quickly learned, open criticism of public displays of homosexual affection will most definitely earn you a mandatory sensitivity training class along with some sort of fine.

Thank you Dan Calabrese for laying the rules out so succinctly for us.

The rules are simple. People who wish to engage in PHDA (public homosexual displays of affection) will do so as openly as they like. The media will show these PHDAs to us repeatedly and at every opportunity. You are to watch. You have a choice between expressing your glee or saying nothing. However, if you are asked what you think, you must say it is wonderful. This is mandatory.

I’m sure Don Jones wished he had received a copy of these rules.

Folks, there is definitely a double-standard here. You simply cannot openly disagree with or criticize the behaviors of a protected class of citizens without potentially incurring the wrath with some sort of backlash. If you’re not in a protected class, it’s open season on you and your beliefs. This is where we need to continually remind others that having a differing opinion does not equal “hate” and we don’t have to agree to get along.

You can read Dan’s full article here. It’s a good read and well worth the time. Let me know what you think.

Walkers v Soldiers: Relax, There’s a Plan for That

Some stories have legs. This one is crawling with Walkers.

The U.S. Military has a super secret (not any more!) plan–called CONOP 8888–to deal with the apocalyptic event of ZOMBIES! No, really…well, it’s fictional….but also totally real.

“‘CONOP 8888’ [is] a zombie survival plan, a how-to guide for military planners trying to isolate the threat from a menu of the undead — from chicken zombies to vegetarian zombies and even ‘evil magic zombies’ — and destroy them.”

Vegetarian zombies! Even though it’s unclear if the vegetarian zombies are an actual threat–are they vegetarians-turned zombie or zombies who only eat vegetables!? I do kind of relish the idea of vegetarians cursed to eat meat for all eternity….either way, they’re vegetarians, so how hard could they BE to defeat? And really if they are plant-eaters, couldn’t we just employ them to crop our lawns and shrubbery? …But I digress

Military Cigarette Privileges Denied?

Last week, the House adopted an amendment to protect military service members’ rights to tobacco. That means someone tried to RESTRICT their rights to tobacco, otherwise there would be no need to introduce legislation to PROTECT those rights.

Here we have men and women putting themselves in front of bullets to protect OUR freedoms and someone on Capitol Hill is trying to snag one of THEIR freedoms? Sure, they say it’s about health, costs for long term care, and military preparedness. Is it really? Or is it about control?

If it’s really about the health and well-being of our military, there’s probably a few other things that need to be banned as well. For starters… how about those bullets?

Our military folks are already sacrificing plenty for ridiculously low paying jobs. They deserve the same rights that every other American has. Sheesh…

Speak Softly and Carry a Big Tweet

A.F. Branco captioned this one:

Speak softly and carry a big tweet. Boko Haram must be trembling in fear with all the #saveourgirls and #bringbackourgirls hashtagging.

If only we still had the clout to convince anyone that we might actually do anything with a big stick (a la Theodore Roosevelt). But I seriously doubt anyone around the world would consider us to be cause for caution at this point. Our federal leadership has not flexed any muscle and empty rhetoric with zero follow-through doesn’t keep terrorists at bay.

Our military is still the finest in the world, but the American people aren’t the only ones who’ve noticed it’s reduction in size and effectiveness through shutdowns and cutbacks.

500 Days Until the End of Weather…or Something

The French. How would we survive without them?

Yesterday the French Foreign (is there any other kind?) Minister casually warned Secretary of State (of confusion) John Kerry that “only 500 days remained to avoid ‘climate chaos.'” Really?! Climate chaos! Oh, my!

Hopefully, the Secretary of State takes the French prognosticator’s warning seriously. Thank Goodness–and Barack Obama–the “science is settled” on climate change, global warming, and global cooling so we can focus like a dull razor on this new threat of climate chaos!

At least now we won’t have to think about climate disruption any more. In 500 days we will either need heavy-duty umbrellas every single day or special rainbow-viewing sunglasses….designed by the French, of course!

Kitty Litter Causes Radiation Leak

Radioactive Nuclear Warning Sign
Radioactive Nuclear Warning Sign

A nuclear waste dump site says the kitty litter may be to blame for their recent radiation leak. It doesn’t get any weirder than that!

Apparently, the dump site mixes kitty litter with any liquid waste to solidify it before storing it for all posterity (because you can’t really trash nuclear waste, now can you!)

Some genius nuclear scientist decided to switch the kitty litter from non-organic to organic. What that genius must have forgotten to do was actually run some “scientific” tests to make sure there wouldn’t be any nuclear reactions! Considering that nuclear science and chemicals are their primary job, I’d have thought they’d retest before mixing the nuclear waste with something new. Guess again!

Various drums and boxes holding toxic waste started melting from the chemical reaction. Twenty-one workers were contaminated as a result. Fortunately, it was low level radiation exposure (I’m assuming that means they’ll recover with little or no lasting effects.)

We can all count our blessings that the new mixture didn’t generate a mushroom cloud over the entire Southwest! Hopefully they’re actively reviewing their safety procedures so we don’t all end up glowing in the dark… or worse!

Equality – The Old Socialist Lie

Who defines what “equality” is? And how does it get implemented? Will it work? It hasn’t yet. Other countries have tried to no avail. Marius Forte joins Joe to discuss the issue today. Call in or join us in the chatroom.

Fetus Invades Mother, Leaves Path of Destruction

By now you may have already seen or read about Slate’s Rebecca Helm’s bizarre Mother’s Day thank you letter. In true feminist form, Helm criticizes the fetus (herself) for “invading” her mother and doing all sorts of “destructive” things. WOW!

What I found truly amazing is the complete absence of any mention of a male contributing to this fetal invasion. Was she miraculously conceived? No. I’m thinking there was a man involved. Interesting that Helm skipped over that part. Perhaps the next installment of her column will be the Father’s Day edition. Can you only imagine how that one will read? If she thought the baby was invasive…

America’s New Civil War

So here’s a question for you:

Why on earth can’t the left — including the ever-expanding sexual anarchy movement — simply tolerate the most basic exercise of First Amendment freedom of speech and freedom of religion? Why are they so deeply offended, so mortally threatened by people simply disagreeing with them, no matter how civil and well-meaning?

To understand the answer to that question is to understand the very core of the “civil war” currently engulfing America.

But  to understand the new “civil war,” you must understand the other side isn’t civil at all, They are, in fact, today’s fascists. Just like the fascists of old, their fight isn’t really about rights, fairness, injustice, or equality; it’s about control and not facing the ugly truth.

Learn the truth here: Meet the new fascists and their victims.

Success is the New Privilege

Are you privileged? You may be and not even know it. Not to worry, though, the Left will expose your privilege for you.

We all know the Left is more interested in feelings than facts. To that end, they try to control the language in subtle and overt ways in order to create the feelings needed to advance their agenda. Their newest perversion of the language is in labeling all success–but especially WHITE success–as privilege. See? You ARE “privileged.”

The Left screeches, “Check your privilege!”   So how should we respond this lunacy? Kurt Schlichter gives us a few outstanding suggestions, starting with; “‘What you call ‘privilege’ is just me being better than you.’”

We don’t have to think alike!

In every ordered and civilized society the rule of law plays an essential role. Given that human nature is too often selfish and sometimes even cruel, laws are enacted to declare the boundaries between right and wrong. Laws form the lens through which society views the actions of those individuals who choose to live in the group.

You will notice that I said the “actions” of those in the group. Yet, today we are increasingly aware that not only actions but thoughts are becoming the stuff of prohibition. The question presents itself: If you think in a way that others dislike, but your behavior aligns with what the law prescribes, must you be punished?

For example, let’s say you disagree with the 55mph speed limit on the freeway. You think it is archaic given the speed and safety of new vehicles, and fervently believe the limit should be raised. Or maybe you think the government has no right to impose limits in the first place. Regardless of your view, I believe that if you drive within the speed limit you should not be penalized. Actions, not thoughts, must be the focus of legal restrictions. Thoughts must not be policed, even if expressed, if there is no corresponding illegal action.

Freedom of thought lies at the base of freedom of expression. When the framers of our Constitution imbedded in that document the freedom for Americans to think and say what they wanted to, regardless its offensive nature, they were reacting against the totalitarian governments of the past who denied their subjects that freedom. It is this freedom that has given life and breath to the American experiment, and made our country the place people from all over the world are anxious to enter. You can tell a good country from a bad one by whether folks are trying to come in or get out. One good thing about the flood of immigrants entering this land is what their passion to become Americans says about the greatness of our country. But, sadly, you and I have front row seats on a monumental change in our freedom.

We are now seeing men and women forced from their positions because of their opinions rather than their actions. And while the recent number of high profile corporate and industrial leaders has garnered media attention, it is almost certain those with politically incorrect opinions at lower levels are being turned out as well, without fanfare.

Now please understand. I believe many opinions are downright wrong, disrespectful, and even dangerous. I have mine, and you have yours, and we may never agree. But it has always been a standard American sentiment that

“I may disagree with you vehemently, and fight against your position aggressively, but I will also fight for your right to hold and express your opinion in this land.”

Over my years in corporate, academic, and church settings I have often been part of groups tasked with making decisions. I have noticed is that stifling debate also stifles creativity and progress. In situations where only one opinion is allowed, so much else suffers, but in society the first victim is freedom.

As a theologian and pastor I often hear from those who oppose me. And while I may disagree with their positions, their arguments have often caused me to go back and re-think mine. Either I become more assured as a result of re-examining the evidence, or I come to better my own position by making need adjustments. Either way I am better off!

My plea is that you would not be sucked in by the current sentiment that we all have to think alike, and that the expression of negative opinions needs to be severely punished. Actions, not thoughts, are to be the focus of law, even those public mores that remain unwritten. Without freedom of thought you cannot have freedom of speech.

And without freedom of speech America will cease to be special, a shinning light on the hill of civilization.

Guest writer, David Hegg is a senior pastor of Grace Baptist Church in the Northern Los Angeles county area

Nobody’s perfect, and even our leaders make mistakes. But this one was kind of a doozy. Is Hillary Clinton really equipped and experienced enough to be the leader of the free world? And even more importantly, can we trust her to be honest with the American people?

What Does Someone Have to Do to Get Fired Around Here?

When I was a kid, (yes, back when a tablet device was an Etch-a-Sketch) my Dad advised me to get a job with AT&T or Edison or the government. Why? Because they would be around forever and it’s nearly impossible to get fired, especially as a civil service or union member. Fast forward 30+ years later only to find out he was absolutely correct!

Take a look at the group of IRS individuals a few years back that spent millions of your tax dollars flying around checking out pricey resort-like places to have “business retreats.” Why can’t I have that job!

Then there was the $17,000 for a keynote speaker to teach them about customer service, how to speak with people and… wait, no, that’s not right. The keynote speaker was actually a painter of “unique pictures” like, Niagra falls, the Grand Canyon… no,wait, wrong again. He painted pictures of Michael Jordan, Bono, Albert Einstein, and Abraham Lincoln to name a few. Can you see where this would help a tax auditor? Me neither.

They spent $50,000 on video parodies of Star Trek and a total of $49 million over 2 years on “conferences.” A few years back at an IRS Anaheim conference over 2600 IRS employees were brought in to discuss small business and self-employed audit procedures. The cost? We don’t know because the agency that requires us to keep every receipt apparently was not tracking all the costs associated with these events until Representative Darrel Issa uncovered it. No scandal here. Just keep going. Not one person lost A job (the key word being “A”.)

You see, when you’re a loyalist to the party (and by that I mean the American Union of Socialist Democratic Communists) they simply move you laterally to a new division or department or send you home with pay until everyone goes back to sleep.

And then we have Benghazi. Where to start? The initial lie? The lack of support on the ground? The lack of backup support? The men and woman who were told they could not testify to congress? Our Secretary of State lied to us. Military officers lied to us. White House staff lied to us. And, as seen in recent emails received from the White House by court order (so much for the most transparent administration in history) no one has lost their job. NO ONE! Four men have lost their lives. Well, no big deal, right? Americans will forget and the Party will be saved.

Then there’s Fast and Furious. Lost Jobs = 0. Lost lives, “priceless.” I say that because the same government that wants to track the healthcare needs of millions and millions of Americans can’t track a few hundred guns. They can’t confess to the fact that it got out of control and Americans died because of it. They roll with “Bush lied, people died,” but nothing about the reality of those in this current administration that keep killing Americans.

Oh, and remember, these guys that want to watch over healthcare are watching over our precious veterans and other national concerns. They treat them the same way they treated Americans in Benghazi, American taxpaying landowners along the borders, and Hurricane Sandy victims. All hung out to dry. They knowingly allow our vets to die because of lack of treatment and we’re expected to trust our children’s healthcare to them? Fat chance! Still, no one fired!

The EPA, the guys who apparently have more power than the President of these American Union of Socialist Democratic Communists States formerly known as the United States, don’t even have to show up to get paid! According to a recent report:

One EPA official watched an average of 2 to 6 hours of porn a day. And it gets better! Another EPA official has not reported to work for years, yet he’s still being paid! And another employee pretended to be working for the CIA while he was working for the EPA. He, too, rarely came to work, claiming he was doing stuff for the CIA. And the EPA paid numerous phony travel vouchers for this fake CIA guy. Not so surprisingly, the Office of the Inspector General claims that the EPA is not cooperating with their investigation. Did he really think they would?

And who has been fired? No one!

But there is hope. You actually can get the government to fire you! How, you ask? Just bring your Bible to work and read it. Steal hundreds of thousands of dollars and you get a lateral transfer. Lie to the public, get a lateral transfer. Bring your Bible to work, get tagged as a Christian who adheres to basic Biblical principle and you get suspended and potentially fired as has happened with some teachers for standing for their freedom of religion rights.

A health director for the City of Pasadena was put on leave after they found he had made some controversial comments about homosexuality, abortion, evolution, and other subjects. How dare he! Even though he has implemented many programs that helped employees and the LGBTQ community in Pasadena and has had great work ethic throughout his many years of service with coworkers reporting no problems, issues, or objections to working with him. Still his comments are intolerable. What were they?

Seems the man is a Seventh Day Adventist preacher. I believe they knew this all along. Preachers and others sold out to their religion usually talk about it. But some staff watched a few of his sermons online and felt he had no business working for a government agency holding those viewpoints. After all those years?

We are in so much trouble, people. When allowing Americans to be killed, when wasting millions of taxpayer dollars, and when lying to Americans is acceptable conduct but sticking by your religious convictions may be grounds to be fired it is proof positive that we have strayed far from what our founding fathers wanted.

America, wake up, or you’re gonna lose this country!

The Holocaust happened. It’s a fact. There is too much hard evidence, not to mention living survivors, to deny it’s existence. It MUST continue to be taught in America’s schools. Teaching this horrific history is critical to ensuring that it never occurs again.

Recently, a California school district included a critical thinking exercise from their Common Core curriculum asking students to prepare a defense of whether or not the Holocaust really happened based on their research findings on the internet. No where did the news account mention that students were actually taught the facts about this critical time in history.

I’m thinking there are more appropriate scenarios that could be used the effectively teach critical thinking skills. Young minds are impressionable. The last thing we need to do is encourage some of them to “critically” resolve that the Holocaust didn’t exist based on erroneous internet content.

Teach the Holocaust FACTS in history class and use something else to teach those critical thinking skills. Perhaps these curriculum developers should consider taking a class in “exercising good judgement.”

Be vigilant, parents. And make your voices heard when you see things like this that just aren’t good for our kids. They will one day be governing our nation.

The Harvard Extension Cultural Studies Club is hosting a Satanic Black Mass as an educational and historical learning event.

A local Satanic temple will be reenacting the Black Mass for attendees to witness along with commentary to explain the history and context. The club is calling the event a “performance” that is “part of a larger effort to explore religious facets that continue to influence contemporary culture.”

Local Catholic churches are protesting the event and holding prayer vigils to counter it’s influence.

This is just another facet of the free exercise of religion granted by our Constitution.

On the Harvard seal is their motto, “Veritas: Christo et Ecclesiae” which translates to “Truth for Christ and the Church.” One has to wonder, would the original founders of Harvard University have been so tolerant as to allow a Satanic Black Mass as a campus event, even if staged in the campus pub? I doubt we’ll ever know the answer to that one.

In the meantime, let’s just pray that their motto holds and the truth for Christ is evident for those in attendance at the event.

Catholic Church
Catholic Church

The U.N. says the Catholic church’s stance on abortion is psychological torture… against women!

Interestingly, the United Nation (U.N.) Committee Against Torture doesn’t mind the fact that abortion regularly dismembers and slowly poisons to death tiny humans in the womb. I guess isn’t really torture, even though sonograms have shown the baby to be in severe distress as it dies at the hands of the abortionist doctor (ironically, sworn to protect life). Or maybe the baby just isn’t human until it’s born and the torture of the unborn comes second to the torture of the already born mother?

The committee is telling the Vatican that they need to change their stance on abortion. When the U.N. can tell a religious organization how to write or rewrite their rules, we’re BIG trouble. Yet they don’t seem to take issue with countries indefinitely detaining “prisoners” like Pastor Saeed Abedini for openly speaking about a religion different from the state-sanctioned religion. Who’s setting their priorities?

And is classifying anti-abortion as torture really the most pressing issue this committee has to debate, when there are people being kidnapped, sold into slave marriages, imprisoned for religious beliefs, and beheaded?

Here’s the current membership of U.N. Committee Against Torture in case you’d like to see who’s involved in these deliberations now.
