California has to upgrade electric grid for green deal!

We do not have enough electrical power in California, today, to keep the lights on 24/7 all over the State.  Imagine what happens when we have ten million electric vehicles trying to recharge their batteries?   What happens when the EV’s try to get away from a forest fire and cannot get recharged?  Will that block the roads causing more damage and injuries?

  1. “New UK chargers will be pre-set to not function during 9-hours of peak loads, from 8am to 11am (3-hours), and 4pm to 10pm (6-hours).
  2. In addition, all home installed UK electric vehicle chargers will be required to be separately metered and send this information to a Smart meter data communications network.
  3. Potentially, this UK legislation allows the electricity used for charging EVs to be charged and taxed at a higher rate than domestic electricity.

The UK technology enacted also enables the rationing of electricity for EV charging because the UK government can decide when and if an EV can be charged, plus allowing the EV battery to be drained into the UK grid if required.

The UK’s charging legislation going into effect June 2022, may be a prelude for new American charging legislation to protect the grid and become a source for greater rate revenue generation from those that can afford EVs.

The above is what will happen to us.  We will be forced rto ration electricity to EV’s—making them expensive door stops.

California has always advertised itself as being the “leader”, but the UK has gone one-up on California with their creative EV charging regulations. Turns out that EV charging may be another source of revenue for the UK:

UK regulations coming into force in June 2022, will restrict charging times, as new chargers in the home and workplace are to automatically switch off in peak times to avoid potential blackouts.
