We’re in the next public health epidemic right now, so says Cary Quashen, founder of Action Family Rehab and Counseling, says … it’s teenagers and THC (marijuana). “Kids are smoking and eating this drug that is exponentially stronger than what it was 40 years ago. Kids getting tested are registering levels of THC that cause severe psychosis!”
But now that marijuana is legal, parents aren’t interested in putting their teens into treatment for excessive pot use because they still believe “it’s just pot.” That doesn’t mean it isn’t dangerous or addictive. What this means is, many people aren’t receiving treatment until they are adults.
Parents should still be on the lookout for the signs of addiction trouble. When kids start smoking pot, they lose motivation and start dropping out of life saying they’re no longer interested. The emotional addiction is the hardest part to break. And recent studies confirm that marijuana significantly affects brain development in teens. We have to protect our kids.
