President Obama: “Fake News” granted Trump victory

Since the moment Donald Trump won the Presidential Election, many government officials have not accepted the result and have tried to find a hiding reason for his victory such as cyber hacking. Even the current president, stated in a recent interview with the Rolling Stones magazine, argued that fake news played a key role in Trump’s victory.

He mentioned that

The challenge is people are getting a hundred different visions of the world from a hundred different outlets or a thousand different outlets, and that is ramping up divisions.  It’s making people exaggerate or say what’s most controversial or peddling in the most vicious of insults or lies because that attracts eyeballs.

Obama also attacked conservative media, claiming that in influence voters in a negative way.

In this election, [working-class white voters] turned out in huge numbers for Trump. And I think that part of it has to do with our inability, our failure, to reach those voters effectively, [but] Part of it is Fox News in every bar and restaurant in big chunks of the country,

It seems that President Obama considers any articles in blogs and political websites that do not support his agenda or present a different perspective of mainstream media as ‘fake’. That is why Since he started his political campaign to the presidency in 2008, he  has constantly attacked those sites,  and after Trump’s victory it has increased

As Howard Portnoy commented on Liberty Unyielding, he seems to forget that

He couldn’t have won the election in 2008 if it weren’t for exaggerations and lies of omission by the mainstream media.

Portnoy also noticed that

the magazine in which Obama’s interview ran was sued for nearly $8 million for publishing a pack of lies centering on a rape hoax.
