UPDATE: On December 25, 2016, it was reported that the father of the young girls, an al-Qaeda commander, was killed. See photos and original post at CheriBerens.

On December 16, 2016, their father took them to a Damascus neighborhood they were unfamiliar with. He showed them around so they’d know where to go and what to do. Then he filmed ‘goodbye’ videos before making them go back to the Damascus Police Station where he blew up his seven year old daughter using a remote device.

In the video, part of what he says to his children is:

“The people in Damascus, they are kufar (unbelivers/non-Muslims) … Our religion says, ‘Urge the believer to kill the unbeliever’ … Where is your dignity? (referring to the people of Syria, because some of them are Shi’a and Christian, and Sunni’s are supposed to kill them as unbelievers). Then he says, (referring to his daughter who he will be blowing up), I ask Allah to make her a good believer/slave to Allah and get her to paradise.”

After this video was made, the little girls went to the Police Station. The nine year old told the police she was lost and needed help. As soon as the nine year old was let into the Police Station, the seven year old was blown up by her father; her explosive vest detonated by remote.

The seven year old died and three officers were wounded.

The father is a well-known commander of al-Qaeda in northern Damascus.
