The war against the police has gone to a dangerous level. In Chicago, a female police officer ended up hospitalized because she refused to use her gun to defend herself from a beating due to the scrutiny she might have faced if she hurt her attacker.

Superintendent Eddie Johnson explained that the officer was severely hurt after she and other police members responded to a car crash where they faced a violent man.

The police officer confessed to the superintendent that:

she was afraid for her life and afraid to use lethal force with all the attention on the police department’s previous actions and fatal incidents.

Supt. Johnson added:

“… She knew that she should shoot this guy, but she chose not to, because she didn’t want her family or the department to have to go through the scrutiny the next day on national news.”

The owner of a nearby business saw the attack on a surveillance video and commented:

“It is terrible. It is a total disregard for law enforcement. They put their lives forward every day for us and to see somebody do this, to pummel the police officer is terrible. It is a terrible thing.”

Although it is true that some police officers may abuse their authority, most of them risk their lives every day to protect their countrymen. It is terrible that are afraid of being judged as abusive officers and refuse to defend themselves from violent criminals. An officer and two colleagues were hospitalized, but how many more police officers must suffer because of the war against them? Hopefully, people realize that this is getting out of hand.
