For those of us who believe that our forefathers founded this country with those four words, “one nation under God,” as their vision and to the millions of us who have witnessed how great America had become while honoring those four words, we are left with our arms outstretched in despair and disbelief as our country, through the media, both mainstream and social, has constructed any and every philosophical opinion against those four words and have drilled into the vulnerable minds of millions of Americans… doubt.
Doubt in the existence of the God our forefathers honored. Doubt as to whether any document written with His existence in mind is worth committing to.
And so, they seek to take any mention of Him, from our currency, the memorials, and statues that share His words and even the mention of Him in our pledge to this country. They want us to follow their lead and change our belief system to please them. They want us to agree with them that the God of our forefathers…the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and the God who became man in the person of Jesus Christ does not and has not ever existed.
They no longer wish for us to believe in the God who spent 40 days with Moses on the mountain carving out the Ten Commandments. The God, who, when Moses lifted his staff, spread back the waters so the people of Israel could walk on dry land. In the minds of these people, no matter what… God does not exist.
Shame on them!
Are they trying to convince us that over the course of the last 50 years the same God who men, women, teenagers, and children have walked a few hundred feet to, in the words of Billy Graham, come to the Throne of God and ask for forgiveness no longer exists? Are they saying that the God Billy Graham preached about all those years no longer exists?
I am embarrassed in the foolishness of their desires.
The sad thing is, they are giving so much power to this belief with nothing to defend their convictions except for one thing… their emotions.
The emotion that gives them the so-called freedom to believe and commit to whatever makes them feel good. The emotion that denies accountability, responsibility, loyalty, and respect. For goodness sake, think of each and every individual who is deceived into the belief that God no longer exists. And sadly, there are millions who do. Because of that, a ton of emotions are running wild, and all it is doing is creating chaos and confusion. Absolutes are thrown out the window, and the true and warranted consequences are no longer wanted.
Do you think we would be in the mess we are in now if there were absolutes? Do you think people would act disrespectful and, in many cases, do things which they know are unlawful? Would they continue if there were absolute consequences? No, they wouldn’t. And that is why they crave a nation without God… so they can do whatever they want.
But why push God out over the cliff? Why can’t they just respect what other’s believe?
Because, just as some young people become disrespectful toward teachers who require obedience and accountability, people most certainly don’t like God because He requires obedience. You can’t do whatever you want and still be obedient. It just doesn’t work. In the book of Micah in the Old Testament, the prophet wrote, “What does the Lord require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8
It is very clear that without God, it will be impossible to be a united America. Our personalities and characteristics without His guidance are becoming warped and confirm what the Psalmist clearly states, “The fool has said in his heart, there is no God.” Psalms 14:1
Whether we want to believe it or not… God does not go away because of our unbelief. He is not insecure thinking it best to hide because a country is trying to kick Him out. No, He is confident, powerful, majestic, loving and full of grace. If His people who are called by His name will humble themselves and pray and seek Him as He was sought through the years and change the direction from where we are headed without Him, He promises that He will hear from heaven, forgive them (us) of sin, and heal America. But not until the hundreds of millions of us become united in one heart, speak as one voice, and place our hands upon our hearts pledging allegiance to the flag, defending the democracy we were built upon.
One nation… under God… indivisible… with liberty… and justice for all.
