Even though taxes are due on April 15th each year, this year we got an extra 3 days to get our returns in. Why, you ask? Well, Washington DC is closed in order to celebrate Emancipation Day. Nevermind that Emancipation Day is April 16th. If it falls on a weekend, that’s close enough for government work, and they get that day off from work, courtesy US… the taxpayer! Aren’t we nice like that?!
So even though it’s April 18th, it’s still Tax Day… at least we go a 3-day reprieve out of it.
