What is terrorism? My dictionary states that it is “the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, especially for political purposes. A state of fear and submission”. With these simple definitions, why do some leaders and certain countries view ISIS as terrorist but would view Hamas as freedom fighters?
Hamas was founded in 1987 by Sheik Ahmed Yassin and Mahmoud Zahar during the first intifada as part of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood. Hamas believes the Jihadist ideology is the only way.
