Are US-backed “rebels” moderates, as Obama Admin claimed?

Sharia Law Notice, Syria
Sharia Law Notice, Syria

Is this the group the US wants to take over Syria so that Syrians can have freedom and democracy?

November 30th, the US-backed “Free Syrian Army” announced that starting December 1st, all women must be fully veiled, even young girls must be veiled. The US-backed “Free Syrian Army” posted this announcement in the towns of Marat and al-Nuaman in Idlib province.

The US-backed Islamists have also banned make-up and female sanitary products.

The notice states that they are enforcing “Islamic” customs and laws.

The notice states that any woman in possession of female sanitary products or caught wearing make-up will be subjected to the Shura Council (sharia court—Islamic Law court) where she will be tried, judged, and sentenced by sharia judges. And punished harshly, of course.

The towns of Marat and al-Nuaman were captured by the Free Syrian Army and al-Qaeda in Syria in a joint collaborative effort to take the al-Hamidiyeh Military Base last year. They’ve held the two towns ever since.

The “Free Syrian Army” is a misnomer because the members are primarily foreign mercenaries, and not Syrian nationals, and also, they are the opposite of “Freedom” fighters. They are fighting for an Islamist takeover and implementing Islamic Law in every town they’ve captured.

The Free Syrian Army merged forces with al-Qaeda and Harakat Ahrar al-Sham as early as 2012. Harakat Ahrar al-Sham is an extremely radical Islamist group that wants the entire region of the Levant to be run by Islamic Law and a Caliphate. The Levant, or “Sham”, is considered to be Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and Jordan.
