A large group of high school students at Hillsboro High School walked out (some in support, some in opposition) to Lila Perry, a girl who was born a boy.

The walkout lasted for about two hours at the suburban St. Louis high school. Roughly 30-40 people showed support for the senior who tried to use the girls’ locker room during gym class. She ended up dropping out of gym class out of fear for her life.

“I wasn’t hurting anyone and I didn’t want to feel segregated out. I didn’t want to be in the gender neutral bathroom. I am girl, I shouldn’t be pushed off to another bathroom,” said Perry.
