Did your church vote to ban “Israel” from prayers? This one did…

ICYMI: BreakingIsraelNews reported:

AS IF ACTIVELY SUPPORTING A BOYCOTT, DIVESTMENT AND SANCTIONS (BDS) CAMPAIGN AGAINST ISRAEL WASN’T ENOUGH, TURNS OUT THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH USA (PCUSA) CONSIDERED BANNING THE WORD “ISRAEL” FROM ITS PRAYERS.

Folks, if your Christian church suggests banning the word “Israel,” it’s time to take a hard look at the church and it’s leadership. The PCUSA says:

“IS THIS ‘BIBLICAL ISRAEL’? IS IT THE ‘MODERN STATE OF ISRAEL’?” THE RESOLUTION ASKED. CITING A “PALESTINIAN AMERICAN PRESBYTERIAN WHO IS A RULING ELDER” OF THE CHURCH AS WHO WAS UPSET AND “UNEASY WITH THE WORD ‘ISRAEL’” IN THE HYMN, THE MEMBERS OF THE CHURCH CONCLUDED THAT “THIS LANGUAGE IS INFLAMMATORY, MISLEADING AND HURTFUL.”

I hate to break it to this “elder,” but the entire Old Testament of the Bible that they use is based on the word “Israel.” And Jesus, the Son of God, was a Jew… FROM Israel. I wonder if that makes them “upset” and “uneasy”? If so… they may be in the wrong religion.

For Christians, the Bible is clear about how we are to treat Israel:

SEE, ALL YOUR (ISRAEL) ANGRY ENEMIES LIE THERE, CONFUSED AND HUMILIATED. ANYONE WHO OPPOSES YOU WILL DIE AND COME TO NOTHING. ~ ISAIAH 41:11

Fortunately, the proposed resolution did not pass… this time. But the fact that something like this was even being discussed in the leadership of a major Christian church is indicative of a bigger problem that we all need to be aware of, and be watchful for. Take an active role in your church leadership. If you don’t, someone else will… and it may just be a “Palestinian American” who is offended by Israel.
