Lawmakers in Oregon think they know best when it comes to your child and are taking parental involvement in medical decisions out of the hands of parents when it comes to sex-change for teens. How parents can be on-the-hook for their children’s actions, but be left out of medical decisions defies all logic.

Ashley Edwardson at reports on this disturbing law in Oregon.

If you’re a parent in Oregon, your family’s in big trouble. The state has decided that you — the parent — have no right to approve, or even know about, your child receiving cross-sex hormone therapy, puberty-suppressing drugs and gender-reassignment surgery.  A group of political appointees have decided that your child — at age 15 — may decide to receive any of these treatments and YOU are out of the loop.

As reported by Fox News:

The list of things 15-year-olds are not legally allowed to do in Oregon is long: Drive, smoke, donate blood, get a tattoo — even go to a tanning bed.

But, under a first-in-the-nation policy quietly enacted in January that many parents are only now finding out about, 15-year-olds are now allowed to get a sex-change operation. Many residents are stunned to learn they can do it without parental notification — and the state will even pay for it through its Medicaid program, the Oregon Health Plan.

Don’t think it can’t happen in your state. Stay vigilant people. Your kids’ lives and futures depend on it.
