A geological study has found the forty-seven mile long Newport-Inglewood fault near Los Angeles is leaking helium.

“UC Santa Barbara geologist Jim Boles found evidence of helium leakage from the Earth’s mantle along a 30-mile stretch of the Newport-Inglewood Fault Zone in the Los Angeles Basin. He claims the results show that the Newport-Inglewood fault is deeper than scientists previously thought.”

The study answered the question of whether the Newport-Inglewood fault is much more important in predicting the region’s next “Big One” than the more well-known San Andreas fault of Hollywood movie fame.

“Researchers analysed the latest data from the state’s complex system of active geological faults, as well as new methods for translating these data into earthquake likelihoods.

The estimate for the likelihood that California will experience a magnitude 8 or larger earthquake in the next 30 years has increased from about 4.7% to about 7.0%, they say.”

The real question is, how long will it be until the nature-denying climate change zealots declare all earthquakes are man made–and not just the ones falsely blamed on fracking?

After all, if helium is a greenhouse gas and science shows it leaking naturally into our environment, then ‘climate change’ must be natural, right all you Nature Deniers?
