This week, Breitbart reported “according to a report published today by the Center for Family and Human Rights (C-Fam):
By executive order last summer, President Obama amended the Johnson-era federal order on non-discrimination in hiring by federal contractors to include non-discrimination based on “sexual orientation and gender identity.” That order has roiled faith-based groups.
A confidential source tells C-Fam that the White House has directed federal agencies to include “sexual orientation and gender identity” as protected classes in all grant agreements.
Now let’s recap… the Obama Administration is attempting to add sexual orientation and gender identity to the protected classes of people who cannot be discriminated against for government grants. Well, that sounds reasonable. Right? Wrong! So what, you say? What’s the big deal, you say?
Well, that means that religious organizations who do not embrace all-things LGBT will be affected. And you say… religious groups shouldn’t be getting Federal funding anyway! Right? Wrong!
Faith-based organizations previously had a religious exemption so that they could not be forced to hire people living contrary to their teachings. No more!
Why does this matter anyway? Shouldn’t we just make those faith-based organizations provide for themselves? Why do they even need grants?
I guess technically we don’t have to give them money. But faith-based organizations help fill a need that the Federal government can’t, and most of us wouldn’t want them to anyway.
Faith-based organizations are often the driving force in for a community to provide services like: food bank, homeless aid (food, shelter, necessities), medical care, and other low-cost or no-cost assistance to the needy.
The president may think he has them backed into a corner. But suspect when push comes to shove with the Catholic church and others like them, he’ll find out soon enough who the REAL Messiah is, and it isn’t him!
