This morning in an historic speech, Benjamin Netanyahu addressed a joint session of the U.S. Congress. In the speech, Israel’s Prime Minister laid out the danger that Iran poses to Israel–and the world–if they are allowed to obtain a nuclear bomb.
Benjamin Netanyahu pointed out that for the U.S., Iran with nuclear weapons is a national security threat, but to the Israeli people, it is a real threat to Israel’s very existence:
“Today the Jewish people face another attempt by yet another Persian potentate to destroy us. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei spews the oldest hatred, the oldest hatred of anti-Semitism with the newest technology. He tweets that Israel must be annihilated — he tweets. You know, in Iran, there isn’t exactly free Internet. But he tweets in English that Israel must be destroyed.”
In a powerful move, Benjamin Netanyahu linked ISIS and Iran–something the Obama administration has gone great lengths to avoid. This direct challenge paints Obama as naive and his Iranian policies as lazy:
“Don’t be fooled. The battle between Iran and ISIS doesn’t turn Iran into a friend of America.
Iran and ISIS are competing for the crown of militant Islam. One calls itself the Islamic Republic. The other calls itself the Islamic State. Both want to impose a militant Islamic empire first on the region and then on the entire world. They just disagree among themselves who will be the ruler of that empire.
In this deadly game of thrones, there’s no place for America or for Israel, no peace for Christians, Jews or Muslims who don’t share the Islamist medieval creed, no rights for women, no freedom for anyone.
So when it comes to Iran and ISIS, the enemy of your enemy is your enemy.”

The Democrat Reaction
During the speech, President Obama attended a hastily scheduled teleconference with world leaders “to discuss Ukraine and ‘global security issues.’” Even though the administration did not have a single representative in attendance, they were quick to send out a parade of their attack dogs to give the official Democrat reaction to Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech.
Congressman John Yarmuth, (D-KY) set the acrimonious and sanctimonious tone of the Democrat response by comparing Benjamin Netanyahu to “…the child who says I want to go to Disneyland every day, eat ice cream and Coke-a-cola every day and not go to school. That would be a nice life for a child, but this is very serious business and it is being conducted in a real world.” Yarmuth appeared to offer the typical White House talking points that there was “nothing new” and Netanyahu offered “no viable alternatives” in his speech.
As usual, when all else fails, the Democrats resorted to blaming the Bush administration:”This speech was straight out of the Dick Cheney Playbook. This was fear-mongering at its ultimate,” said Yarmuth.

Pesident Obama’s Reaction
President Obama stated that he did not watch the speech and noted he had read the transcript. He emphasized that there is no deal yet on Iran regarding nuclear weapons and Netanyahu’s speech “offered nothing new and no viable alternatives.” Sound familiar?
Finally, looking angry and defiant, President Obama stated, “I’m focused on the deal. I’m not focused on the politics of it. I’m not focused on the theater of it.”
