Well, it wasn’t just anyone. It was Miss America. And she was there to talk “about diversity and the importance of science, technology, engineering and math studies,” which I’m sure she did. But one teenager’s actions took all the spotlight away from her intended focus.
Sure, it’s what some teenage boys do. They’re seeking attention. He definitely got it, in spades! But was it appropriate? No. Did he show respect for the authority figures who had previously asked him not to do it? No. Did he show respect for Miss America and the job she was tasked to do? No.
Should he have been suspended over it? Tell me what you think…
