Clooney’s movie flops! Wonder why?

George Clooney’s latest film, “Suburbicon,” performed horrendously at the box office this weekend, netting a paltry $2.8 million and inspiring some to wonder whether his longtime association with Hollywood pervertHarvey Weinstein played a role in the film’s poor earnings.

Produced and directed by Clooney, the film earned only $2.8 million, a stunning $32.2 million short of the amount it took to produce and distribute it, according to Fox News. And this despite the film reportedly being played on 2,045 screens.

In comparison, Fox News host Sean Hannity’s film “Let There Be Light,” which played in only 373 screens, earned $5,071 per screen, whereas Clooney’s “Suburbicon” snagged just $1,369 per screen, as noted by Newsmax.

To be quite blunt, Clooney got completely eviscerated this weekend, and a chance exists this happened because of his relationship with Weinstein.

For starters, last month Clooney rushed to Weinstein’s defense after a funding dispute erupted between the since-besmirched Hollywood filmmaker and The Foundation for AIDS Research.

“George Clooney, Johnny Depp and Ryan Gosling are all prepared to say the movie mogul did nothing wrong in the dispute over amfAR,” the U.K. Daily Mail reported in September.

It added that the dispute was over “$600,000 that was raised at amfAR’s gala dinner at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2015” and subsequently given to a theater to which one of Weinstein’s companies reportedly owed money.

To be clear, all this happened before The New York Times broke its bombshell story in early October outing Weinstein as a longtime pervert with a history of sexually harassing women.

Still…

During an interview in early October, Clooney even admitted he had been somewhat aware of Weinstein’s illicit activities.

“I’ve heard rumors, and the rumors in general started back in the ’90s, and they were that certain actresses had slept with Harvey to get a role,” he said in an interview with The Daily Beast.

“It seemed like a way to smear the actresses and demean them by saying that they didn’t get the jobs based on their talent, so I took those rumors with a grain of salt,” he added.
